Spurling Cannon is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Practice Bookkeeper to join our growing Small Business Division. This is a key role supporting a wide range of clients across various industries, with responsibilities that include VAT return preparation, bookkeeping, and mentoring junior team members.

Job role
- VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and deadlines.
- Client Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for a diverse portfolio of clients. Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
- Client Interaction: Liaise with clients to resolve queries and provide updates, ensuring a high standard of service.
- Training: Deliver software training and ongoing support to junior staff members.
- Review & Feedback: Review VAT returns prepared by colleagues and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
Requirements
- AAT qualified, studying, or qualified by experience
- Strong Xero or QuickBooks software experience
- Good knowledge of Excel
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with limited supervision.
