Richard joined Spurling Cannon in 2007 when W Fowles & Co of Broadstairs was acquired by the firm. Qualifying with the AAT in 2008 and then as a Chartered Certified Accountant with the ACCA in 2012, Richard was appointed as a Director of the firm in April 2014.
Richard has gained vast experience helping new and growing businesses in the local area. He has developed expert knowledge in online accounting software packages and enjoys supporting clients of all sizes to grow and develop.
While holding a significant portfolio of clients across all industry sectors, Richard has a particular focus on Property, advising landlords, property developers, and construction firms on tax and financial management. He also acts for many professional service companies, including architects, interior designers, consultants, and solicitors.
Personal Interests
Richard is married with two children and has lived in Thanet all his life. Passionate about the local area, he is actively involved in the community. He has been a leader with the local Scout Group in Birchington for many years and now also serves as Treasurer for the local District Scouts.
In addition, Richard has a keen interest in Neurodiversity and is a Treasurer and Trustee of Neurodiversity in Business, supporting greater inclusion in the workplace.
Outside of work, he enjoys running and taking part in physical challenges.
